Michigan is ranked number 1 in unemployment rate. When I was searching for a job, it did not take long to find one. It was really easy. The harder one to find is the career.

Today I read Should it be illegal for employers to check job applicants' Facebook profiles by Kashmir Hill. Many people today have Facebook accounts and are ruining their lives by putting stuff on it. Facebook is a social-networking service and website. Anyone can see anyone’s Facebook page unless they lock it. Here are some examples on why employers should be able to look at applicant’s Facebook profiles. Firstly, I 100% agree that employers should look at applicant’s Facebook pages. Many people post immature pictures of themselves. For example, many people post pictures of themselves in the nude, while drinking, and doing drugs. If employers see any of these on the applicants Facebook, they will not hire them and I think that’s the right thing to do. If people don’t do this, on their first day, they might insult someone, or maybe go nude. I will use this information to my benefit because I will not post any stupid pictures of myself. If I cannot get a job, I cannot get money. If I don’t get money I cannot live a good life. This applies to chapter 6 because employers are going to look at your Facebook page to tell if he or she should hire you. Employer- a person or business that employs one or more people, especially for wages or salary Immature- emotionally undeveloped; juvenile; childish. Today I read 10 Things I Wish I Would Have Known Before I Went Into the Real World by Chris Widener. My favorite topic on it was life is not fair. This could go with jobs or shopping or even at home. Sometimes school teams can be not fair. People always complain how life is not fair, but I think it is. To me, life is very fair. There are people making 12 dollars a hour by lifting heavy boxes, counting everything in the store, or teaching the same thing 4 times a day for 7 hours. While other people are making at least 18 dollars a hour for sitting in a chair. This is fair to me because those people sitting in the chair have a really good education. They need someone they trust and is smart to be a manager, boss, or a principal. Also, life can be unfair on sports teams. A coach can always start their son or daughter, or pick their son or daughter to go first. There is really no way to solve this problem. It just happens. This topic can affect the workplace because your boss will get paid at least 20 dollars a hour just to do nothing, while you get tired from lifting boxes and only get paid 12 dollars a hour. It helps everyone prepare for life because not everyone is going to get a good job just sitting around. But in my opinion, its all fair. Fair-free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice Boss-a person who employs or superintends workers; manager. |
